Michael La Sasso Makes History, Wins LIV Golf Indianapolis in Dramatic Season Finale
WESTFIELD, Ind. — The youngest player in LIV Golf ended the 2026 season standing above everyone else.
Michael La Sasso captured the LIV Golf Indianapolis Championship Sunday at The Club at Chatham Hills, finishing at 18-under par and holding off a star-studded leaderboard to earn the first professional victory of his career.
The 22-year-old HyFlyers GC rookie closed with a 5-under 65, finishing one shot ahead of Jon Rahm and becoming the youngest individual winner in LIV Golf history. La Sasso completed the four-day championship with rounds of 71-60-66-65 for a 72-hole total of 262.
And he had to earn every bit of it.
La Sasso Delivers With Everything on the Line
La Sasso entered Sunday’s final round at 13-under and holding a one-shot advantage, but there was little room for error with some of the biggest names in LIV Golf making runs behind him.
Rahm produced one of the best rounds of the day, firing a 7-under 63 to surge all the way to 17-under.
Bryson DeChambeau was charging as well, shooting a final-round 64, while Sergio Garcia posted a 65. Both finished tied for third at 16-under.
But La Sasso never gave away the lead when it mattered most.
With Rahm already in the clubhouse at 17-under, La Sasso arrived at the par-5 18th needing a birdie to win outright. The rookie delivered, making birdie on the final hole to reach 18-under and secure the championship by one shot.
Moments later, the emotion of becoming a professional champion began to sink in.
“I don’t even know what to say. I’m shaking if I’m being honest,” La Sasso said afterward.
It was a breakthrough few would have predicted entering the week.
Before arriving in Westfield, La Sasso had only one top-30 finish during his rookie LIV Golf season. Four days later, he was holding the championship trophy.
A 60 Changes the Tournament
The foundation for La Sasso’s victory came Friday.
After opening the tournament with a 1-over 71, La Sasso exploded during Round 2 with a bogey-free 10-under 60, tying the lowest round recorded in LIV Golf during the 2026 season.
He birdied seven of his first 10 holes and briefly put a 59 into play before ultimately settling for 60. He needed only 21 putts during the round.
La Sasso followed that performance with a 4-under 66 Saturday to take the outright lead into Sunday’s final round.
From there, the former Ole Miss standout — who won the 2025 NCAA Division I Individual Championship — showed that he could handle the pressure of a professional Sunday leaderboard.
His victory came in just his 12th LIV Golf start.
Rahm Makes One Final Charge
While La Sasso walked away with the individual tournament trophy, Jon Rahm once again reminded everyone why he has been the standard of consistency since joining LIV Golf.
Rahm started Sunday three shots behind La Sasso at 10-under before firing a 63 to finish at 17-under 263.
He eventually settled for second place, but Indianapolis still capped another championship season for the Spaniard.
Rahm had already locked up his third consecutive LIV Golf Individual Championship before arriving in Indianapolis and finished the season as the league’s points champion once again.

La Sasso also collected $2.02 million for the victory from the $10.1 million individual purse.
Legion XIII Goes Back-to-Back
The individual championship wasn’t the only trophy decided Sunday in Westfield.
Legion XIII captured its second consecutive LIV Golf Team Championship, finishing the tournament at 44-under and beating La Sasso’s HyFlyers GC by six shots.
Rahm’s final-round 63 helped power Legion XIII to the title as the defending champions separated themselves from the rest of the field Sunday.

For Rahm, it completed another remarkable season — an individual season championship and a second straight team crown.
For La Sasso, however, Sunday belonged to the rookie.
Indianapolis Becomes LIV Golf’s Final Stage
The weekend carried additional significance beyond the leaderboard.
The Club at Chatham Hills hosted 57 players competing over four rounds and 72 holes, with Indianapolis ultimately becoming the final event of the 2026 LIV Golf season.
The league’s originally scheduled Team Championship in Michigan was canceled, shifting the team championship decision to Indianapolis and placing an even larger spotlight on the Westfield event. The cancellation came amid continued questions surrounding LIV Golf’s structure and future as the organization works through a transition involving new investment.
Whatever comes next for LIV Golf, its 2026 season ended with one of the best finishes the Indianapolis event could have asked for.

And a championship ultimately decided on the final hole.
