Doyle missed five games with that injury, returned for four weeks and then missed the remainder of the season after a kidney injury. Indianapolis’ priority remains the draft — especially as Combine drills begin this week at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Ballard admitted the talent level on the roster isn’t quite where he’d like it to be yet, but he’s happy with the direction of the franchise.
“This team’s pretty good. Pretty good football team,” Ballard said. “… Are we where we need to be yet from a talent perspective? No, we’re not. I’m not gonna sit here and try to blow smoke up y’all and make you think we are. We still have work to do. But we are better, and we are a good football team. Absolutely we are.”
